Establish a B.C. offshore school
Quality assurance
- B.C. offshore school operators must have government approval from both the B.C. Ministry of Education and Child Care (Ministry) and the local government authorities to establish and operate a B.C. offshore school.
- B.C. offshore school operators sign an annual certification agreement with the Government of British Columbia. Schools that do not meet certification requirements may lose their status.
- Each B.C. offshore school submits an annual report.
- Each B.C. offshore school undergoes a rigorous annual inspection conducted by a team of qualified B.C. offshore school inspectors. Inspection Reports are published on the Ministry website.
- With some exceptions, only B.C. certified educators may teach in B.C. offshore schools.
- Each B.C. offshore school has an Offshore School Representative acting as a liaison between the school and the Ministry. These liaisons assist the operator to ensure that each school meets all Ministry standards and expectations.
