Drugs and Alcohol

In B.C., the legal (alcohol) drinking age is 19. Minors (under the age of 19) are not allowed to purchase alcohol nor are they allowed in bars or clubs where alcohol is served. It is also illegal for adults to purchase alcohol on behalf of a minor.

International students who are found to be consuming alcohol or using illegal drugs may be expelled from their program and returned to their home country immediately. They may also potentially face criminal charges.

The legal age to purchase cigarettes in B.C. is also 19.
